Sermon-based small groups

When Monday comes, often the lessons of Sunday morning have slipped away. If you're looking to really hear and understand what God is saying to you, a great place to start is a sermon-based small group. Below are some questions to kick-start your group discussion.

Dirty Dishes (May 31)

  • When we say someone has a pure heart, what do we mean?

  • How do you think giving gifts to the poor could cleanse your heart? (v. 41)

  • What's an example of something that is conspicuous, but unimportant? Important but inconspicuous?

  • How do you tell the difference?

  • Have you ever experienced pride that was something other than being full of yourself? What was that like?

  • What is something in your heart/mind/life that needs to be "put to death"?

Last Week's Questions:

  • How do you show love? How do you feel love?

  • Why do you think we view certain ways of honoring God as better or or worse?

  • Read Matthew 6:25-34. How does Jesus' list of things worth worrying about compare with yours?

  • What are some practical tips you have to help deal with worry?
